tapsigner x nunchuk
Congratulations on your TAPSIGNER!
The TAPSIGNER is incredibly versatile. For starters, it can be used as the only key in a single-signature wallet. For intermediate and advanced users, it can be paired with other hardware signing devices to create a multisig quorum.
Furthermore, the TAPSIGNER can also be used with our subscription plans, which provide many features beyond basic multisig such as inheritance planning, emergency lockdown, encrypted cloud backups, scheduled payments, and much more.
Regardless of your choice, we are certain you will enjoy using TAPSIGNER with Nunchuk. Bitcoin self-custody has never been this easy.

3. TAPSIGNER backup
The TAPSIGNER can generate a backup file of its master private key. This file is protected by a factory-programmed password, which can be found on the back of the card.
To verify that your backup works correctly or to recover the private key, you can run the below command on the command line. Replace PASSWORD with your TAPSIGNER's backup password, and FILE with the path to your backup file.

openssl aes-128-ctr -iv 0 -K PASSWORD -in FILE
If everything works correctly, you should be able to see the master private key printed out. The key starts with the prefix "xprv". Alternatively, for a GUI application, you can use Nunchuk's key utilities. For best security, we recommend that you only run the above tools on a secure machine, and immediately remove the backup file afterwards.
